About Remortgage Lab

Remortgage Lab is an independent informational site for UK homeowners, published by Rodway Labs. The purpose is to show the arithmetic behind a remortgage decision: fees, early repayment charges, product transfer versus switching lender, and related scenarios.

Remortgage Lab is funded only by display advertising from Google AdSense, shown only on pages that carry an ad slot. Visitors are asked for consent through our own privacy pop-up, and no ad script loads until they accept. There are no affiliate links, referral fees or commissions. Who publishes this site

Publisher: Rodway Labs is the trading name of an independent UK publisher. Rodway Labs publishes Remortgage Lab, an informational site, and is responsible for its content and calculators.

What it does: Rodway Labs builds transparent UK mortgage arithmetic tools: calculators that show every input, assumption and formula, so you can see how a remortgage figure is reached rather than trusting a single headline number. The site is built and maintained independently.

How the calculators are built and checked: each calculator uses the standard amortising repayment formula or the published rules it names (for example GOV.UK stamp duty bands). Results are checked against fixed, labelled EXAMPLE cases before a page goes live and whenever a related guide is revised. The calculator methodology sets out the equations and assumptions.

Qualifications and advice: no financial adviser qualification or professional membership is claimed. Nothing on the site is advice; it is arithmetic on the figures you enter, illustrative only.

What it is not: not a lender, not a broker and not authorised by the FCA. It does not arrange mortgages or give personalised advice.

Who maintains the calculators

Rodway Labs writes and maintains the calculators and guides. No adviser qualification or professional membership is claimed. See the calculator methodology and the editorial policy.

Testing, sources and review

• Testing: Calculators are tested against the standard amortising repayment formula and a fixed set of worked EXAMPLE cases, including the shared £185,000 case used across the site. A formula is changed only when a worked example shows an error, and formulae are re-checked against those cases whenever a related guide is revised.
• Sources: Tax bands come from GOV.UK (SDLT, England and Northern Ireland only). Process and consumer-protection points follow MoneyHelper remortgage guidance and FCA consumer mortgage pages, with UK Finance for market context. ERC and fee figures in a result come from your own offer, because the contract wording wins. EXAMPLE rates are labelled scenarios, not live market quotes.
• Review cadence: A last-checked date changes only when a page has been re-read, not on every deploy. Tax bands and the shared EXAMPLE case are reviewed when the rules change, and at least annually.

Edge cases such as stepped ERC schedules, fees added to the loan, cashback conditions, product-transfer versus full-remortgage differences, and LTV band thresholds are described in the relevant guides rather than hidden inside the calculator.
