Published
A lender’s own variable rate that many mortgages move onto when a fixed or discounted deal ends, if you do nothing.
An SVR is set by the lender. It can change, and it is often higher than the fixed rate that just ended. It is not the Bank of England Bank Rate, though lenders may move SVRs after Bank Rate changes.
On this site, 7.49% appears only as a labelled EXAMPLE of what an SVR roll-on can cost. It is not your lender’s rate and not a market quote. Put the rate from your statement into the calculator.
Definitions are plain English for this site, not the wording in your offer. Last checked 29 September 2026.
